Ever get to that point where you just don't know where to start studying? I have about an hour and a half before my test. I have studied. I have been to every class. but I'm not as prepared as I was for the last test and that freaks me out a little. The information just doesn't seem as important as life right now.
Just finding it hard to care about how my eyes work, when they work just fine.
And I am really not understanding what the ventromedical cortico-brainstem-spinal tract does. I know it's indirect. And it interacts with a tectum (auditory), vestibular nucleus (balance, like the semicircular canals), and the reticular formation (which tells us how to do motor stuff like swimming (synchronized swimming, formation. ya.)) and it also talks to the motor cranial nerves that move the face (like the trigeminal)
In the dorso and ventro things there are 2 tracts. one is direct to spinal cord and one is indirect and goes through axons and then to spinal cord. ventro are more diffused, go out to more things dorsolateral goes to distal things like fingers and ventro goes to shoulders etc. all origniate in the cerebral cortex. to figure out what these tracts did - lawrence and kupyers cut them in monkeys and watched what the monkeys had problems with. mostly with new actions and moving arms and stuff. that sucks. <>
propopagnosia is crazy times. can recog a face as a face. but you dont know who anyone is. cows too.
Love and psychology studying,

when they cut the V ones - the monkeys could no longer walk or sit. they had to hold on to things like at skating rinks . any disturbance and they would fall - loud boom, hanson song playing at the skating rink (please stop mmm bop!)
(yes, I remember things better when i relate them to things and give them more details, can you tell?)
muscles. you have extendors and flexors and antagonistic (bicep v tricep) or synergistic
shorten muscles - dynamic contraction , increase tension without shortening - isometric
activity of musles is supervised by gogli tendon organs and muscle spindles
knee reflex - patellar tendon reflex - this is a stretch reflex the etendor muslce along thigh is stretched
that goes to things in spine called spindle afferent neurons via the dorsal root and then also something happens in the ventral horn.
figure 8.14 is hillarious.
ok. i think i've got ch 8 down.
going back to 7 to review
Sensory system
association cortex
2nd sensory
primary sensory
thalamic relay nuclei
receptors
paralell processing makes things work better
scotomas are extra blind spots (or as i typed blond sports. wow.)
- this happens in association
grahms blindness - cant see but can percieve. crazy time.s
dorsal/ventral streams
D- where - control of behavior to posterior parietal
v - what venTral whaT- concious perception o to inferotemproal
guacamole ukelele song is awesome.
"felt so good, waking up beside you"- love this song ;)

hearing 0
waves, auditory canal, typanic membrane, ossicle bones, oval window to cochlea fluid to organ to corti and the semicircular canals are why u get drunk
periaaqueductal gray - pain invaders
